At one point during my healing process, I also worked as a „Second-in-command Alpine herdsman“ around 2.000 meters above sea level in an old hut with 6 cows, 3 calves and many bales of hay. Up there, there was only country, country and more country. We milked the cows ourselves and I learned how to separate the cream from the milk and how to stir the cream until it turned to butter. We made curdled milk, cheese and we baked bread. This was done with hands that had only known a pen and a laptop for the last 30 years. Up there I learned how little we need to live and how little we need to be happy and I believe that it would do a lot of people a lot of good to live like an Alpine herdsman for a certain amount of time. I believe that would help to put some things in their life into perspective again and/or to reduce some things to a reasonable extent.
